What makes ‘Project Milestones’ different from other personal training programs?

  1. Well, firstly, I was born with a disability! When I was a toddler, I was diagnosed with Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD). My parents started noticing the difficulties I had in learning, processing, and reacting to language and different sounds. For a while, they thought I had selective hearing - but little did they know, I just couldn't hear and understand them!  An audiologist and an ENT conducted hearing tests on me… and let's just say I did not pass with flying colors haha! I began having occupational and speech therapy to help me, since I was behind other kids my age. I also later on needed to have eardrum reconstruction surgery, which further helped my hearing abilities. As a young student, I definitely had my challenges and struggles inside the classroom. Though now as an adult, I learned what works best for me and can finally say (with LOTS of patience, perseverance and determination),  that I graduated with my bachelor's degree from college, and currently hold multiple certifications!


  1. Exercise helped my disability. When there is any negative impact with your ears- it can cause significant difficulties with balance. As a kid, I would struggle at times with walking straight, or performing movements that involved different motions. After my diagnosis and treatments- my balance started to gradually improve. I started becoming more confident and more motivated to try new things. My big thing was running.  My mom always tells the story of me just randomly running laps outside around my house throughout the day. She would just watch me from the back porch with a smile on her face. This led me to my love of running and being outdoors. Little did I know that I would run cross country and track for 12+ more years and participate in many races, leagues, districts and states! I never cared about timing and placement- I solely did it for the way it made me feel….free.

  1. I can relate to individuals that are diagnosed with special needs and disabilities. I get what it's like to look and feel different from our peers. To be bullied, to feel not good enough, to struggle with little things, and more. I also get what it's like to finally accomplish something that you’ve been working SO hard at, and my favorite… proving people wrong! I had to anxiously come out of my comfort zone many times- but there I learned that nothing can grow in comfort zones. I want to encourage individuals who can relate to my story in some way, and want to start something new…but are unsure about it. I want to show them the power, beauty and freedom of movement, and the lasting benefits of exercise. Exercise may look a little different for those with a disability- but adaptive fitness is for individuals who are ready to move, grow stronger, and take ownership of their health… no matter their abilities. And I believe I am that person to help you get there!
